Tragedy struck today in Aba, Abia State, as a boy was crushed to death by a truck. According to eyewitnesses, the truck was driven by an Hausa man who ran away after the incident, that left the boy’s head smashed.

For the last five years, 30-year-old Bassey Victor, has been working as a barber in a shop along Raji Oba, Iyana Ipaja area of Lagos.
For those five years, Rachael’s husband and three of her four children have been part of his loyal customers.
They referred to him as their family barber.
Rachael (not real name) is a trader married to a Delta State indigene, a businessman who often travelled for days, entrusting the care of the home and children in the hands of his wife.
But sometime in March, while her husband travelled out of Lagos for work, she became a victim of a heinous crime she could not have imagined would ever happen to her.

South African police ‘kill another Nigerian’

Kingsley Ikeri, a businessman from Imo state, has been killed in Vryheid town in Kwazulu Natal province, according to to the Nigeria union in South Africa.
Ikeri, 27, was reportedly killed on Wednesday.
Bartholomew Eziagulu, chairman of the union in the province told NAN, that the businessman was allegedly tortured to death by police officers.
Eziagulu said the police used plastic bag to cover his face in a bid to get information from him.

A student who received a staggering £850,000 instead of her usual £85 monthly university food grant is in hot water after going on a massive 73 day spending spree with her friends.
Accountancy student Sibongile Mani, 27, who was on benefits to allow her to study was said to have undergone a Cinderella like transformation overnight after the cash blunder.
Student leader Sibongile who is at the Walter Sisulu University in Mthatha, Eastern Cape, South Africa, gets £85 (1,400 Rand) each month put into her bank account in food and book allowances.
But instead the company that administers the financial aid allowances at the university called Intellimali fouled up and sent £850,000 (14million Rand) in cash to the hard up student.

Gov. Ambode donates N5 million to widow of man killed for exposing kidnappers’ operation

 
The Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has donated N5 million to the widow and children of Osaze Omorogbe, a community leader killed and burnt by kidnappers for leading security agents to foil their operation.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Community and Communications, Kehinde Bamigbetan, who presented the cheque to the family on behalf of the governor at a ceremony at the family’s residence in Isawo, Ikorodu, praised the deceased for his heroic role.
Mr. Bamigbetan was received by the Chairman of the Community Development Association, Ahmed Yusuf.

Thousands welcome Buhari in Daura for Sallah

Thousands of people thronged the Daura airstrip in Katsina State to welcome President Muhammadu Buhari, who has arrived his hometown for Eid-el-Kabir.

A correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Airforce helicopter conveying the president and members of his immediate family landed at the airstrip at 4:45 p.m on Wednesday.

Billioanire kidnapper, Evans, pleads guilty to charges


Billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, otherwise known as Evans, has pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy and kidnapping. He was arraigned before the Ikeja High Court in Lagos this morning. Evans and five others were arraigned on a two-count charge of conspiracy and kidnapping.
The judge ordered that all the male defendants be remanded at Kirikiri Maximum Prison while the female defendant, who pleaded not guilty to all the charges, be kept at the Kirikiri Female Prison.

The case was adjourned till October 19th.

A Nigerian in the United States on a student visa was sentenced to three years and 10 months in prison on Wednesday in a sophisticated fraud scheme that cost banks and other businesses millions of dollars.
Amechi Colvis Amuegbunam, 30 pleaded guilty in March to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. He has been in custody since his arrest in Baltimore in August 2015.
The scheme Amuegbunam was part of had at least 10 victims and resulted in losses of about $3.7 million, according to a news release from the U.S. attorney’s office in Dallas. Amuegbunam has also been ordered to pay $615,555 in restitution.

Two notorious ritualists were arrested in possession of the head of one Hassan Abubakar of Bakajeba Paiko L.G.A, on Saturday, August, 26, 2017, at about 9pm, following a sustained monitoring by IGP Special Tactical Squad attached to Niger State Police Command.

The suspects Abdulrasheed Aminu, 22, of Lupa and Ismaila Mohammed, 27, of makera, both confessed that they cut off the head with the use of two sharpened knife and one other suspect, Ibrahim, is still at large.

The Ogun State Police Command has paraded a suspected human trafficker, Paul Aganla, who was arrested on 26th August at Isiu, in Owode -Egba area of the state.

The state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, disclosed this on Monday at the command’s headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, shortly before parading 43 suspects whose offences ranged from child trafficking, armed robbery to kidnapping and murder.
