Mayorkun, whose concert over the weekend in Ibadan was marred by an alleged assault and reckless sex according to online sources, has disclosed that condoms littered at the concert venue was for sex awareness.
Mayorkun who sat for a chat with NET after the concert, said that while trying to encourage safe sex among youths, the organizers, with the support of relevant organisations, distributed packs of condoms freely for reproductive and family health awareness which, he says, is typical of events of such magnitude
“These were seen littering the event ground afterwards,” he said.The DMW act who also expressed surprise on fans’ turnout for the event, said;
“I planned to see between 5,000 and 7,000 people yesterday, but I was shocked to see 13,000 people.Organizers of the concert had after the concert which featured artistes like Davido and Perruzzi, debunked rumours that the event recorded some form of violence probably due to the massive turn out at the event.
“I was ready to perform for two to three hours, which I also promised maximum security.
“So, as soon as I got news on how packed the mall was, I had to get more security.
“The entrance planned for me to use was busy, I had to beg the mall owners to open the back gate for cars to come in.”
“That the Mayorkun’s Concert, which was widely acclaimed by attendees as the best music concert to be held in the city of Ibadan was very well managed with experienced security officials in place, despite the over 13,000 people in attendance. So, we will like to disassociate ourselves from news going round of violence against some persons as no such thing happened at the event. It was a free and fair event.
